Hurricane Monument

Created in 1937, this National Historic Site memorializes the hundreds of World War I Veterans and civilians who lost their lives in the Florida Keys worst natural disaster, the infamous 1935 Labor Day Hurricane. As a part of the National Register of Historic Places, the monument marks a crypt that contains the skeletal bones and cremated remains of more than 400 victims.
